Voiceleap ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our macOS application and related services (collectively, the "Service").

By using Voiceleap, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree with the terms of this Privacy Policy, please do not use the Service.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information Processed Locally (Never Leaves Your Device)

The following data is processed entirely on your Mac and is never transmitted to our servers or any third party:

• Audio Input: System audio and microphone audio captured for translation purposes
• Speech Recognition Data: Transcripts generated from audio using macOS Speech Recognition (SFSpeechRecognizer)
• Translation Data: Text translations performed using the macOS Translation framework
• Text-to-Speech Output: Synthesized audio generated using macOS AVSpeechSynthesizer
• Local Transcripts: Session transcripts stored locally on your device

2.2 Information Transmitted to Third Parties (Pro Features Only)

The following data may be transmitted when you explicitly use Pro features:

• Voice Cloning Audio: When you choose to create a voice clone, audio samples you provide are sent to ElevenLabs for voice model creation. This is the only feature that transmits your voice data externally.
• Cloned Voice Synthesis: When using your cloned voice for translation, text is sent to ElevenLabs to generate speech in your cloned voice.

2.3 Account and Payment Information

If you create an account or subscribe to Standard or Pro:

• Account Data: Email address, name (optional), and account preferences
• Payment Information: Processed securely by our payment processor (Dodo Payments). We do not store your full credit card number.
• Usage Metrics: Aggregate usage statistics (e.g., voice clone minutes used) for billing purposes

2.4 Analytics and Diagnostics

We collect anonymous, aggregated data to improve the Service:

• App crashes and error reports (via Apple's crash reporting)
• Feature usage statistics (which modes are used, not content)
• Device type and macOS version
• App version and performance metrics

This data cannot be used to identify you or reconstruct your conversations.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, maintain, and improve the Service
• Process transactions and manage subscriptions
• Send important notices about the Service
• Respond to customer support requests
• Monitor and analyze usage patterns to improve user experience
• Detect, prevent, and address technical issues
• Comply with legal obligations

4. Third-Party Services

4.1 ElevenLabs (Voice Cloning)

Voice cloning features are powered by ElevenLabs. When you use voice cloning:

• Audio samples you provide are transmitted to ElevenLabs' servers
• ElevenLabs processes this data according to their Privacy Policy
• You can delete your voice clone at any time through the app settings

4.2 Apple Services

Voiceleap uses built-in macOS services that are governed by Apple's privacy policies:

• Speech Recognition (SFSpeechRecognizer) — processes on-device
• Translation Framework — processes on-device
• AVSpeechSynthesizer — processes on-device

4.3 Payment Processing

Payments are processed by Dodo Payments. Your payment information is transmitted directly to Dodo Payments and is subject to their Privacy Policy.

5. Data Retention

• Local Transcripts (Free): Stored on your device for 7 days, then automatically deleted
• Local Transcripts (Pro): Stored indefinitely until you delete them
• Account Data: Retained while your account is active and for 30 days after deletion request
• Voice Clone Models: Retained until you delete them or close your account
• Payment Records: Retained as required by law (typically 7 years)

6. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data:

• Local data is protected by macOS security features and your device encryption
• All network communications use TLS 1.3 encryption
• Account passwords are hashed using industry-standard algorithms
• We conduct regular security assessments

However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Your Rights and Choices

You have the following rights regarding your data:

7.1 Access and Portability

You can export your transcripts and account data at any time through the app settings.

7.2 Deletion

You can delete:

• Individual transcripts from the app
• Your voice clone from the app settings
• Your entire account by contacting support

7.3 Opt-Out

You can opt out of:

• Analytics collection in app settings
• Marketing communications via unsubscribe links

7.4 For EU/EEA Residents (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Union or European Economic Area, you have additional rights including:

• Right to rectification of inaccurate data
• Right to restriction of processing
• Right to object to processing
• Right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority

7.5 For California Residents (CCPA)

California residents have the right to:

• Know what personal information is collected
• Know whether personal information is sold or disclosed
• Say no to the sale of personal information (we do not sell your data)
• Access your personal information
• Equal service and price, even if you exercise your privacy rights

8. Children's Privacy

Voiceleap is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately.

9. International Data Transfers

If you use voice cloning features, your data may be transferred to and processed in the United States or other countries where ElevenLabs operates. By using these features, you consent to such transfers. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for international data transfers.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by:

• Posting the new Privacy Policy on this page
• Updating the "Last updated" date
• Sending you an email notification for material changes (if you have an account)

Your continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
